The October Mile Challenge

Starting in October, in the lead up to Christmas there will be one challenge per month to complete. These challenges are designed to push you out of your comfort zone, to progress, improve or try something different that challenges you. It is for enjoyment, fun and progression (& a small prize), so you can join in no matter what your fitness level is. There will be three different challenges so you can join in some, or all of them as appropriate and there'll be the chance to win some prizes too.
October is the mile run challenge. Whether you are new to running or a seasoned endurance runner, you can challenge yourself to your own 'one mile challenge'. There are two parts to this challenge:
1). The person who makes the biggest IMPROVEMENT on their one mile run or walk time over the course of October wins a bundle of sports nutrition goodies.
2). For those competitive speed demons amongst you, a second prize will be awarded to the person who runs this the quickest overall time.
Please don't be put off if you've never run before then why not power walk the mile to start with, practice and by the end of the month, aim to run all or most of the distance.
The Rules...
Rules are simple.
1). ASAP (in the first week of October). Run, walk (or a combination of both) exactly one mile as FAST as you can. Record the time. Take a photo of the device you used to record the time (free phone app like Map my run or Nike+, GPS watch or even the tradmill screen) then post it on the facebook page.
2). Practice, practice, practice for the next 4 weeks!
3). Repeat the same 1 mile run/walk at the end of October. As FAST as you can. Record the time and distance. Take a photo as before and post on the Facebook page of the new and (hopefully) improved time.
4). The person who makes the GREATEST improvement wins.
***There will also be a prize awarded to the person who runs the mile distance the fastest***
Remember, we want PROGRESS not Perfection so lets do it and see what we can achieve!
NB. You MUST try as hard as you can on both runs. If i believe you didn't try hard enough on the first attempt I may disqualify you
